Presso Good Weekend Article-June 25

There is nothing like getting some good press. The little review we had on Saturday in the Good Weekend Magazine has swamped us with orders. Alison is doing her best to get as many out each day as she can. Please be advised that we have no more pressos in stock at the moment but don’t fear we have plenty  more on the way and there should not be too big a delay.

Porlex Hand Grinder

Once you become addicted to making coffee without plugging into the grid you can’t help looking for more cool non electric gadgets. Our latest discovery is the Porlex Grinder from Japan. A number of our friends have used this great grinder so we thought we should give it a go. Here are some pictures from our morning presso ritual with the added pleasure of hand grinding our own.

Flat White Espresso with Presso

Making a flat white (latte) with the Presso is pretty darn easy. It’s a bit upside down compared to how a barista would do it with a conventional espresso machine but you get a very similar result. With the presso you heat up your milk first and to get a nice frothy head you simply use the hand milk frother that comes with the presso. Once you have your cup filled and frothed place it under your presso and pull your desired shot into the cup. Voila you are ready to go. One handy tip if you like to use a microwave is to heat up you milk for about one minute and then froth. If you are making more then one simply add 1 minute for each cup you have in the microwave.

Presso Child’s Play

Using the Presso is a bit like having a play with a new toy. The only thing different is that unlike typical new “plastic” toys once they break you have to chuck them in the bin. Not the Presso: if you happen to break it or in time wear out one of the parts you can easily repair it with replacement parts. Pictured below is Moe (9 years old) pulling a lovely shot for her Dad with their presso (photo by Jon Sturge).

Please don’t violate child labour laws and if you are going to teach your children how to use the presso be sure to supervise them so they don’t get hurt and to make sure you get a great tasting result.

Our mate Jason who helped us get Presso off the ground in Australia has taken on distributing and promoting Presso in the States with his partner Amanda are doing a great job juicing up Coffee enthusiasts in America.
